The Sports Center Casino ... for all your gambling, shooting, drinking, dining and smoking needs. Our kind of joint!

Larson Building A Yakima landmark and architectural jewel. It’s an eleven story mini skyscraper in a remarkable Zigzag Moderne style.  Although the exterior is beautiful, the real wow factor is the lobby with its patterned terrazzo floors, marble walls, filigree metalwork, and intricate cast bronze elevator doors.

After being inside this remarkable building for some time, it was hard to believe we were in Yakima ... it felt more like New York or Chicago.

We must have spent an hour wondering around the lobby with our mouths open and our necks bent.

One final thought about Yakima. On our way back to Ellensburg we noticed a billboard out on the highway claiming that Yakima is the "Palm Springs of Washington." Did we see streets named Bob Hope Boulevard? Frank Sinatra Drive? Dean Martin Way? Did we notice palm trees and endless golf courses? No ... we did not. (Yakima does have 4 golf courses ... Palm Springs has ... well ... who can count them all?)

So we thought perhaps Yakima was comparing its winter weather to Palm Springs. Not even close. Yakima has an average high of 38 in January ... while Palm Springs enjoys an average of 70. We're not sure what the Chamber of Commerce is thinking.
