Words cannot describe the variety of freaks assembled at the Fair. You really have to go with an open mind ... and fresh batteries in your camera. Everyone we met was quite friendly and willing to pose for us. Here are just a few of our favorites.
We're not sure who that masked man was on the left ... but his job was to go around tickling everyone with his "fairy feather." And yes, that is a guy in the cowboy hat ... but please ... no cracks about his "skirt".
We thought Miss America and Raccoon Boy would make an ideal couple. By late afternoon, we finally overdosed on the counterculture. Fortunately, Danny, who had been tracking the path of the sun to ensure we wouldn’t get lost, successfully led us to the exit. Still on sensory overload, we jumped on the magic bus and headed back to the comforts of our Airstream. We recommend the Oregon Country Fair to anyone who wants to recharge their senses and evoke the exuberance of their youth ... especially if their youth occurred during the 60s.
