We listened to early radio ads for SPAM, featuring Gracie Allen and George Burns. The biggest surprise was learning about the Hormel Girls, an all female swing band that would sell Spam by day and sing and dance by night. Click here … and here to learn more.

The museum includes a remarkable variety of Hormel signage and advertisements.

Near the end of the tour we came across Monty Python's classic three-minute SPAM skit, which has fun highlighting the ubiquity of SPAM in British society since World War II. Dog tired from lingering just a little too long ... we stumbled into a gift shop that has to be seen to be believed … it sells over 400 SPAM related items. Do we really need a SPAM fly swatter?

We were disappointed that samples of SPAM weren’t offered at the museum. We were tempted, but ultimately passed on the SPAM filled menu at Johnny's SPAMarama Diner located across the street.
