We didn’t try the coffee from the traveling Jumpin Java Bus ... but it sure looked inviting.
Sandpoint is known as the Funnel to Railfans since it is the point where multiple rail systems converge … an average of 40 to 60 trains pass through town every day. With all the rail activity we were surprised to find the Sandpoint depot in such a frightful state of disrepair.

We put on our student hats and learned about David Thompson, the Canadian equivalent to Lewis and Clark. A well deserved Bicentennial Celebration is being planned.
Pack River Flats is a peaceful and serene area … we spent time looking for wildlife and admiring the sparkling blue waters of Lake Pend Oreille. Because the lake reaches depths of more than 1,200 ft., it has been an ideal setting for submarine training and testing since 1942. (Page 2 of 3) Copyright © 2006 TrailerGypsies.com.
