Here was the view from our picnic table at Hoo Hoo Park in McCloud.
Although Burney Falls was the primary destination, half the fun was driving Highway 89 … known as the Legacy Volcanic Scenic Highway. We stopped at various scenic pull outs to savor different perspectives of Mount Shasta and to visit McCloud. This small historic town still retains the flavor of its company mill town roots with the charming 1916 McCloud Hotel (now a B&B), modest cookie cutter homes of the mill employees, larger rustic Victorian homes of the company officials and the company store. As expected, Mount Shasta is visible from everywhere around town.
The McCloud Hotel ... it is just as nice inside.
